Tumblr users are being targeted by phishers. A rash of malicious web sites have been set up to mimic legitimate Tumblr destinations recently. These sites are using links that offer salacious content if a visitor will “log in” to the service. Once they do, they are caught and the hackers have their account info which then exposes them and their friends to follow-up attacks.
Phishing is always a risk but there appears to be a specific push to capture Tumblr accounts right now so be careful out there. If that Tumblr link content looks too juicy to be true…it probably isn’t.
